well, you cannot blame them really...I bet the costs to keep that place going were high and I doubt that ghost tours and the occassional TV show came close to covering it.  Besides, places like the Stanley are active hotels and are great places to visit and have ghostly experiences.  At least now, you can safely and comfortably spend the night!  We always here how renovations to a place make the ghosts more active...so, I would definately go stay there.

How about a central national forest park like a protected watershed perhaps as long as its still within a city? Hehehe..

 Problem is, you want something with insurance in case some ghost chaser gets hurt trespassing. I imagine it's much easier and cheaper to insure a hotel or spa than it is a forest park. The owner must be sweating now with his insurance premiums - thrill seekers in a derelict building. That's a recipe for disaster right there.
